Coastal Silence

$3600.00

"Coastal Silence" opens the Serenity series with the simplest scene there is — a beach, a rock, and the line where water meets sand — and somehow that simplicity is the whole point. There's a particular kind of quiet that only exists at the edge of the sea, where nothing is asking anything of you. This painting is built to hold that quiet and hand it back to you every time you look at it.

The drama here is soft-spoken: the immovable weight of the headland against the endless, patient return of the waves. Sky and wet sand are laid in thin, luminous washes that let the weave of the canvas breathe through, keeping the air open and unhurried, while the breaking foam is built up in thick, physical ridges of impasto — so the most fleeting thing in the scene becomes the most solid. Scattered stones trace a path along the waterline for the eye to wander. It's a painting made to slow you down to the speed of the tide — the kind of piece that changes the pace of a room just by hanging in it.

The Artist’s Note:

Honestly, I painted this one for myself first. There are days the studio gets loud in my head — not actual noise, just too much happening at once — and I needed somewhere to put my eyes that didn't ask anything back. A beach does that. It doesn't care what's due, what's finished, what's not. It just keeps arriving and leaving, over and over. If this painting slows your breathing down even a little, it's doing exactly what it's supposed to.
